Equipment

  • 1 pyrex bowl or measuring cup
  • 1 silicone soap mold
  • 1 popsicle stick to stir with

Materials

  • 6-8 pieces loofah
  • 1 llb soap base
  • 15 drops lemon essessential oil
  • 15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 3-5 drops vitamin e oil
  • 1/4 tsp mica powder This is just a starting off point. You really don't need to measure. Just sprinkle in some mica and stir. Continue to add powder a little at a time until you get the desired color.

Instructions

  • Cut up your soap base into small pieces. Put them into your mixing bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals stirring in between. Do not over heat or it becomes rubbery.
  • Add essential oils, vitamin E oil and any colorant (mica) you are using and stir. Keep adding the mica powder until you get the desired look you are going for. Start out small because you can always add to it.
  • Using a spray bottle, spray the mold lightly with your grain alcohol.
  • You can also add some sprinkles of mica powder into the molds. This gives the soap a pretty, textured look on the top of your soap.
  • Next, place your loofah’s in the molds and start pouring. The Loofah likes to raise to the top so you can hold it down with a tooth pick if you want it to stay down. Once the soap is poured, you can lightly spray the tops with the grain alcohol to help get rid of bubbles.
  • Let these sit over night and then just pop them out of the molds.
  • Let the loofah soap sit for about a week before you use it.
