You can add more but it only requires 3 ingredients. You can see the addition of chocolate chips in ours because that what my sons likes but they aren’t necessary.

Thank you to my mother-in-law Anne for this recipe that has become a staple in our home when we need something  yummy on the fly.

Ingredients Needed for Easy Peanut Butter Cookies

We’re going to start with the only three ingredients you need to make these peanut butter cookies. I love that they are staple ingredients so I always have them at home.

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of peanut butter

How easy is that recipe to memorize? These ingredients will make your basic but delicious peanut butter cookie. But, you can fancy them up by adding fun things like:

  • Chocolate Chips
  • White Chocolate Chips
  • Peanut butter Chips
  • Caramel Chips
  • Reeses Pieces

You can add anything that sounds good to you. Now, are these the most amazing cookies in the whole world? Maybe not, but they are yummy and will get you though a pinch or craving when you just gotta have a treat and don’t want to leave the house.

These Peanut Butter Cookies are great to make with kids. It won’t fill up your whole sink with tons of bowls, measuring cups, and spoons. Plus, your kitchen won’t be covered in flour.

How to Make Easy Peanut Butter Cookies

Ready to try out this super easy recipe? Let’s go!

  1. Preheat your oven to 350

  1. In a large mixing bowl combine your egg, sugar, and peanut butter and mix well. (I like to add them in that order because then you only need to dirty one measuring cup.)
  1. After it is well mixed you can add any extras you want. (We did mini chocolate chips because my son loves to add chocolate to just about everything, and it’s something we had in our pantry.)

  1. Once your extras are mixed in, then roll the dough into small balls and set directly on your cookie sheet. Because there is already oil in your peanut butter there is no need to oil the sheet.

  1. Smash down into a cookie shape lightly with a fork so they cook through (and look cute).

  1. Bake at 350 for 8-15 minutes.. (The time will depend on how big you make your cookies, how accurate your oven is, and what kind of pan you use. I like the thicker jelly roll pans, so I always have to add a few minutes to any recipe I make.)

  1. When the cookie is done it will be even across the top and will not have any sunk-in or wet look to the middle of it. No need to wait until they get brown around the edges, I think they are too dry once that happens.

  1. You can let the cookies cool completely on the pan, or just cool enough to move them to a cooling rack. Then you can re-use the same cookie sheet for fewer dishes.

  1. After the cookies have completely cooled, move to an air tight container.

So, a recipe with so few ingredients will make hardly any cookies, right? Nope. Even with us making them a very generous size, we still got 17 cookies out of our three ingredients on this day.
