No More Stinky Feet Spray

Let’s face it. In summer here it is reeeeeeally hot. I stepped out from my car yesterday and my sun glasses instantly fogged up.

There is so much moisture in the air and on top of that the heat causes my everything to sweat even if I am not moving.

Sweat can cause stinkiness. That is why we where deodorant, but what about other body parts?

I know most boy moms contribute smelliness with boys but would you believe it if I told you it is my daughter and I who get stinky feet. We both sweat more then the men in this house and our shoes can get smelly real quick.

So what do we do to avoid it from happening? Some would say wear socks at all times. Well, I am not going to miss out on cute slides because my feet sweat.

Others say do not wear shoes for more then a few hours but I have Saturdays where I am selling things at markets and leave the house at 8am and get home at 5pm.

What if I told you you could wear your shoes as long as you want, and without socks even, and still have non-stinky feet? What if I also told you it was really easy and cheap to make, and is all natural and has less than 6 ingredients?

What Causes Stinky Shoes and Feet?

Bacteria is all around us. We put on socks and shoes and our feet can get really sweaty, and the socks and shoes lock in the moisture making it hard to evaporate out and dry. The bacteria on our skin loves the sweat and eats it which turns into an acid which causes odor.

In addiction to sweat bacteria, our feet can come into contact with all sorts of bacteria at pools, showers and the gym. It really is hard to stay away from, especially in summer months when everyone is so active.

Because of this we use essential oils in our foot spray that work to kill that unwanted bacteria. We use ones that are deodorizers, disinfectants, antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-fungal.

How To Make Stinky Foot Spray

This spray is made in 2 minutes. All you want to do is:

  • Fill bottle up half way with witch hazel.
  • Fill the other half of the bottle with distilled water, but leave a little room for essential oils.
  • Choose 3 to 4 of the essential oils on our list. I like using peppermint, tea tree oil and lemon but you can use whatever smells good. Add to 3 to 4 drops of each essential oil.
  • Put the lid on and shake. That is it!

How To Use

When you get home from a long, hot day, and you have smelly feet, shake spray bottle and spray the inside of your shoes. Then set them somewhere to dry.

You will also want to spray your feet before putting your socks on the next day, and let it dry naturally. Then put your socks and shoes on.

Spraying both your feet AND the inside of the shoes the night before will be the most effective. If you do not have time for your feet to dry, spray your shoes when you take them off and let me dry over night. This will still be really effective at getting the stink out.
